Sports Bar Soi Sampanthamit Udon Thani

The Sports Bar in Soi Sampanthamit, Udon Thani has relocated. Not too far, 200 metres or so next to @Home at Udon Hotel. The bar moved to its new home on Soi Sampan in April (2016) and instantly resumed its position as Udon Thani’s premier sports bar and the number one place to watch live sport in the city.

The new look is different to the old. Similar in size but much more fresh-looking, shiny and new. The winning formula is still the same – lots of TV’s showing live sport, good drinks options, friendly staff and a decent crowd of regular punters. The one sad point is former co-owner Steve is not there, the hugely popular Sports Bar host passed away in December 2015.

There can’t be many bars in the world that can offer 18 holes of golf ten paces from your bar stool. The Sports Bar can.

A golf simulator has been installed with 18 international courses to choose from. Nearest the pin and longest drive competitions are other options too. Clubs are available at the bar. Nine holes on the simulator is 95 THB, 18 holes 180 THB. No buggy or caddie required. The bar also sports a pool table and dartboard – two more reasons why the place is a huge favourite among Udon Thani expats and tourists.

Sports Bar, Soi Sampanthamit, Udon Thani – Summary

Udon Thani’s top live sports bar. Premier league location. Twenty20 atmosphere and a first-rate place to watch live TV sport or catch-up on re-runs. Food and drink reasonably priced and the bar is only a short walk from most Udon Thani city centre hotels. Recommended.

56-year-old wannabe Thailand expat currently living in England. Thus far, my writing career has achieved very little – one published short story in Things Asian Press book, To Thailand With Love by Nabanita Dutt. Life scrolls on but my ink is getting low. Looks like I’m not gonna make it big time.
